The BA Newsletter is on its way…
Hey! Phil Plait here. You read that title right; I’m starting up a subscription-based email newsletter.
— Subscribe here —
The first issue will go up on Monday, April 16th and will be free and open to everyone to read. The next issue will be subscription only and will go up on Thursday, April 19th. I’ll publish a mix of both, but in general there will be two per week.
The subscription page has info, details, and an introduction to who I am and what I do.
And HEY: If you subscribe between now and April 16, you can get an annual rate of $40, a $10 discount (20%!) off the normal rate of $50. And even that is a deal over the monthly $5 rate, so there you go. Math, folks. It doesn’t lie.
But wait! There’s more!
Why not start with a giveaway? I will pick a random name from the first 50 people to subscribe either monthly or annually, and they will win an actual honest-to-cosmos iron meteorite! Yes, seriously: A nickel-iron Sikhote-Alin meteorite that fell in Russia in 1947. I'll include a write-up I made describing it. Here it is:
So please, check it out and join up! There’s a lot of science stuff I want to tell you. Thanks!
UPDATE (April 10, 2018): Well, I got to 50 subs so quickly that I decided to add another meteorite to the giveaway for subscribers 51-100… then realized that won’t do it either. So I will give away a meteorite for every group of 50 subscribers, in chronological order until April 16 when the newsletter goes live, or until I get to 500 subscribers, whichever comes first. IOW I’ll pick a random number for subscribers 1-50, then 51-100, then 101-150, and so on, and that person will win the meteorite (note: Not all the meteorites will look just like the one in the photo, and may be bigger or smaller, but they will all be Sikhote-Alins). So sign up for a chance to win!
